Spode Copeland England Dated @1879 Canton 2 Luncheon Plates #528
This is a pair of luncheon plates made by Copeland (Spode) in England. They have the incised Copeland mark.  One has the date code L79 for July 1879 and one D79 for December 1879. Each is in great condition for being so old!
Each measures 8 3/8" across.   The design is Copeland's #528 called Canton.
They have the red trim at the rim edge and the rim is smooth.
The interior designs feature a blue vase sitting on a brown desk with a hanging lamp over a planter all in an Oriental theme. The outer ring is bright red with a floral design on the rim.
The blue and green colors look and feel hand painted. The red, brown and black that look like a transfer underneath.  The brown has a sheen and sparkles like gold trim especially at the rim.
One is in excellent Condition with no chips, nicks or cracks. The second has a bit of a rough edge with one spot that feels like a chip it is dark and noticeable but not deep. See photo.  Please view the photos for a better description. I have other neat things listed.  Please view
