    Description

Rare litho print commissioned by The Matson Navigation Company, a luxury cruise line. The Artist, Eugene Savage completed the works to be showcased on the ships, but with the War the ships were converted into troop ships and the original murals were placed into storage and not seen by the public.
This 14" x 21" Menu Proof litho print was originally made to be folded into a menu - the back side right would have later been printed with that day's meal offering, ( it is not folded in the center )
    "A God Appears"
Features title & story on the backside , Backside" paper has yellowed with time but is not brittle. Slight crease. Corner bottom right has turned at some point leaving a small crease, small tear toward right edge bottom less than 1/2". At one time it was stored rolled - will lay flat with slight pressure or framed.
Front side: Vivid crisp colors, unfaded. Each corner has darkened discoloration from taped used to display it at some point, all shown in photos please scroll. The slight crease on the backside does not show , but can be felt on frontside does not impact image.
Will ship flat between 2 pieces of cardboard - USPS.
I recently purchase a large lot of menus & menu proofs from a Wyoming estate, a lifelong Ephmera collector. I will be posting many more pieces from his fine collection of papergoods. I am dating this Menu Proof to 1948 because I have many other menus from this collection and from Matson Cruise Lines which are all dated 1948. Please see my other listings for rare litho works of Ada Peacock.
